IT'S A DONE DEAL!

Yesterday, May 15th 2010, the day we had planned for, waited anxiously for, arrived. All the planning that began that day on Jekyll Island Georgia when I first proposed paid off. There were a lot of facets of this day that had been planned months ago, from the large scale items such as the food, tents, location, and flowers. There were also countless details like the plum napkins at the dinner tables and the cocktail hour music that were decided and probably ignored by the crowd.

First up, Megan had her bride photos.

And of course she looked amazingly beautiful.

I stood back and snapped a few photos with my iPhone. In all the lists of stuff to remember to bring, I forgot to keep tabs on my camera. It didn't matter. The day happened so fast I doubt I would have taken any more pictures than I did with my phone.

In a matter of hours it was over, we were married, had a blast, and saying our goodbyes to all of our awesome guests - such as my grandma.

It was a rare, unique day. There are thousands of weddings every weekend of every year, but this one was ours with our friends and family and I cannot think of anything that would have made it any better.

It was perfect. Wonderful.

There are a ton of people who helped it come together and even more who contributed to it being as special as it was. Most of all we have to send our greatest love and thanks to my new in-laws Mike & Janet Thompson, my parents Jerry & Mary and step-parents Marsha & Irwin.

This list will go on, and should go on. The coming weeks there are going to be phone calls and letters written to give thanks and appreciation to those who stood by us in support and gave us their free time and energy.

But now, we are off to Disneyland. Honeymoon time!

  1. When Megan and I were teenagers we did a lot of walking; and on at least one of our walks around the ‘hood of Normandale and Ross Park Drive we talked about finding one’s soul mate. We both imagined how nice it would be if this “soul mate” had a magnet of sorts inside of them that would draw you closer and closer over time, and eventually you would feel a great pull towards him. I imagined that Megan’s soul mate would be comprised of the following set of criteria:
o A combination of humor, integrity, and insanity of the male cast of Empire Records
 Lucas,Joe Reaves, AJ,Mark,Warren, and yes, even Rex Manning
o Witty and sometimes rhyming (a la Beastie Boys)
o Quirky with boyish charm/good looks (Ethan Embry)

And I am so very happy that Megan has found all of this in Chris, and sooo much much more. All of the great things that were said about each of these individuals at the wedding and reception were so honest and true. I second them all, and say thank you to Chris and Megan for letting me be a part of their big day. I am honored to have been in your wedding party, you can always count on me to be a big fan and supporter of this union.

    Love you guys,
    xoxoxo

  2. This was a dream day. Every bite of food, delicious. The venue and backyard, breathtaking. The refreshments, spectacular. The band, legendary. And now that I've had a day to digest all of this, I realize it's all a reflection of the beauty, fun and graciousness of Megan, Chris the Thompson and Jalufka families. I feel so honored I was a part of your momentous occasion. Thank-you for such an unforgettable day.
